You guys know we loves us some sci-fi, nerdy, geeky, horror-tinged, and zombie-fied weddings… and it appears the Old Grey Lady has sniffed out the trend!

The New York Times ran an article today ("Moving Past Traditional to the Science Fictional") which featured an interview with Ariel and several weddings featured on Offbeat Bride. We thought it'd be fun to share some of the photos that go with the weddings featured in the piece…

The 2008 wedding of Mr. and Ms. Marovich in San Pablo, Calif., details of which were later posted to Offbeatbride.com, was not the first to contain references to zombies. But it highlighted something of a trend among a certain subset of couples who are looking outside (sometimes way outside) accepted custom.

Ms. Marovich, 35, said she received several e-mails from people who wanted to copy her vows, and the Offbeatbride site has since featured dozens of zombie-themed weddings. So many that the site's founder and publisher, Ariel Meadow Stallings, said she recently cut back on them, for fear of overexposure.

"It's being used in ceremonies in ways that aren't just gimmicky," she said. "It's actually kind of a powerful cultural metaphor that people are tapping into."

To me, photographing a wedding is both "doing a job" and attending a celebration! I'm a big believer that a photographer with both a good eye AND a great personality is a valuable thing to have for your wedding.

Wedding photographers are especially awesome when they're in "the game" for the right reasons. Like just absolutely loving what they're shooting…
I'm hooked on love. It's so ridiculously cheesy, but being around couples that are crazy about each other turns me into a total sap. I listen to the vows, I dance like crazy while snapping pictures, and I always end up making friends with at least one guest.
